Terms of Service

1. Who can use Sego

You must be at least 18 years old, single (never married, divorced, or widowed), located in the United States, and legally able to enter a contract. You may have one account, in your own name, with photos of yourself. We may refuse or close an account at our discretion.

2. Your account

You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email (or a Google account). Keep your email account secure; you are responsible for activity under your Sego account. Tell us immediately at [email protected] if you believe it has been compromised.

3. Community conduct

You agree to the Community Guidelines. In short: be honest, be kind, and keep it appropriate. You may not harass, threaten, or demean anyone; post sexual content or solicit it; ask for or offer money; impersonate anyone; use Sego for commercial purposes, fundraising, or promotion; scrape or automate access; share another person’s private information; contact anyone under 18; or file false reports.

Gatherings. Members who host gatherings are responsible for them. Hosts must describe events accurately, hold them where and when stated, and not use gatherings for commercial solicitation. Sego does not organize, supervise, or insure gatherings and is not responsible for what happens at them. Attend at your own judgment, and follow the Safety Center guidance.

4. Safety

SEGO DOES NOT CONDUCT CRIMINAL BACKGROUND SCREENINGS ON ITS MEMBERS. Verification badges indicate only that a specific check was completed on a date; they are not a guarantee of anyone’s identity, character, or safety. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other members, online and offline. Read the Safety Center.

5. Your content

You own what you post. You give Sego a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, resize, and moderate your content for the purpose of operating the service, and to show your profile to other members according to your settings. You confirm you have the right to post everything you post. We may remove content that violates these terms.

6. Paid memberships and purchases

Sego Gold is offered monthly and yearly; a Founding Member purchase is a one-time payment. Prices are shown before you pay and are the same for every member regardless of age. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel; you can cancel any time in Settings, effective at the end of the current period. You will receive a reminder before a yearly plan renews. We do not offer weekly plans and do not use dynamic pricing. Payments are processed by our payment provider; Sego does not store card numbers. Purchases are non-refundable except where required by law. A member removed for violating these terms is not entitled to a refund.

7. Suspension and termination

We may warn, suspend, limit, or terminate your account at any time for violating these terms or the Community Guidelines, for conduct that harms other members or Sego, or when required by law, with or without notice. You may appeal by writing to [email protected] within 30 days; our decision after review is final. You may delete your account at any time from Settings.

8. Disclaimers

Sego is provided “as is.” We do not guarantee that you will meet anyone, that other members are who they say they are, or that the service will be available without interruption. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sego is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your interactions with other members. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

10. Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally by writing to [email protected] will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court. You and Sego each waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action. You may opt out of arbitration by emailing [email protected] within 30 days of creating your account.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Sego after that means you accept the change.
